CHARLOTTE:
Vanessa! I heard you were pregnant! Are you excited? When are you due? How are you feeling? Do you have morning sickness? My mom says you need to eat every 4 hours, and that will help the nausea.
RACHEL (enters):
No, that won’t help! Vitamin B6 will help with the morning sickness.
CHARLOTTE:
No, Vitamin B6 helps with blood circulation, so you don’t get headaches.
RACHEL:
No, small amounts of caffeine like in a dark chocolate bar will help the headaches.
CHARLOTTE:
That’s not right, caffeine is terrible for you when you’re pregnant, you need to quit it altogether, and it can actually CAUSE headaches because it will CONSTRICT blood flow to the head.
RACHEL:
A little bit of caffeine is ok, like green tea, which is good for antioxidants.
CHARLOTTE:
Oh no! Green tea in particular is REALLY BAD, because it can inhibit cell development!
RACHEL:
No no, cell development is hindered by sugar.
CHARLOTTE:
Small amounts of sugar are ok.
RACHEL:
No, none! Especially when your teeth are concerned!
CHARLOTTE:
A little blood in the gums is normal and nothing to worry about!
RACHEL:
It IS something to worry about! You need to get your teeth professionally cleaned at least 3 times during your pregnancy! There’ve been studies proving links between the bacteria that grows from excessive sugar intake in the gums to problems with labor and delivery!
CHARLOTTE:
That’s ridiculous! I knew a woman who ate ice cream all through her pregnancy and she was in labor for like 3 hours and everything was just fine!
RACHEL:
Yeah well *I* knew a woman who ate leafy greens and nuts her whole pregnancy and was in labor for 3 days then had to have a C-section even though she wanted a natural birth!
CHARLOTTE:
Exactly! So it’s totally arbitrary!
